In the first day of biking, it is a bit difficult to pass location Sankhu you need to go slight uphill sloped highway, but it is not necessary to pedal all the way, as you have the option of resting your legs and pushing the mountain bike which is easy and we do believe is the very essence of the mountain biking. Meanwhile, from the Second day, everything is easier compare to first day of cycling buffs and huffs.
The Nagarkot trip on bike can be completed in a day. We might not be able to spend time in the Bhaktapur Durbar Square due to time constraints of returning to Kathmandu at any sensible time. Therefore to push ourselves a little hard and keeping up a good pace becomes our motive, but this can be done.

Nagarkot mountain bike is moderate to challenging trip. Even having less stamina can complete the trip. As uphill [slightly grim] is only like 12 km; in this case we can push the bike on hard section. Or, we can have support vehicle to keep up this hard section.
How long does the trip take?
1 night 2 days trip will be easy and comfortable. As we can see sunset and sunrise. View wise also early morning view is better and clear view of Himalayas. But if you have great stamina we can Nagarkot in a day and return back to Kathmandu.
What kind of terrain will I ride on?
Mostly the road is paved but when we come Changunarayan, on this section is a bit off-road. We come across rural farmlands, pine forest, more greenery towards Nagarkot and the ethnic Newari villages.
When is the best time of year to go?
Spring (February to May) and Autumn (September to December) is said to be best time to do mountain biking to Nagarkot as it has good visibility and clear sky. But we can do mountain bike throughout the year. Just the thing is we need to carry rain cost in rainy season and warm gears in winter.
Can I take a shuttle instead of riding uphill?
We can check and talk about shuttle in advance. For the beginner it is recommended. Otherwise it is fine. Even pushing bike you can make it.
