How Difficult is the Lower Mustang (Muktinath) MTB Trip?
The Lower Mustang trip is suitable for both beginner and intermediate cyclists. While the uphill ride from Jomsom to Muktinath is challenging, most of the trip consists of downhill and flat sections, making it an overall easy ride.
Duration:
The trip lasts about 12 days if starting and ending in Kathmandu, with a few days in Kathmandu for sightseeing. If you fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu, the trip can be shortened to 7-8 days.
Best Season:
The best times to go are in Autumn (September to November) and Spring (March to May). The weather is mild, and the views of the Himalayas are spectacular. The trip can be done year-round, but in winter, you will need warm gear. A good raincoat is necessary in the monsoon season (June to August).
